The Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB), the duly created board that oversees the establishment and management of Research Ethics Committees in the country, conducted an Accreditors Training with the Regional Ethics Monitoring Board (REMB) Region XI. The accreditors training was headed by Dr. Marita VT. Reyes and Dr. Milagros M. Viacrucis last April 12 and 13, 2018 at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City. One of the main objectives of the training is to capacitate the REMB XI members as well as selected participants to become future accreditors in the region.

The Chairperson of REMB XI, Dr. Alvin S. Concha, welcomed the participants and trainers and briefly described the creation of the REMB in the region. Through DOST Special Order No. 248 s.2017, three regions including Davao Region were selected as pilot sites in the creation of REMB to support the tasks of PHREB.

During the training, three institutions in Region XI who applied for PHREB accreditation were comprehensively evaluated following the accreditation process of PHREB. In the future, the trainees may apply their learning experiences to their respective Research Ethics Committees to improve its operation and activities.
