REGIONAL ETHICS MONITORING BOARD 1
Objective:
To ensure the protection of safety, welfare, and rights of human participants in health-related research in the regions, DOST through Special Order No. 248 Series of 2017 initially established the REMBs in three (3) regions including Region I (Ilocos Region) in line with the Republic Act No. 10532 or the Philippine National Research Health System Law of 2013 and the DOST Special Order 091 s. 2006.
Functions:
The REMB I serves as the regional arm of PHREB, with the following functions:
- Information dissemination, training and advocacy related to ethics.
- Monitor the performance of Research Ethics Committees (RECs).
- Assist in the development of quality assurance in review of RECs.
- Assist in the implementation of policies and directions for health research ethics set by PHREB.
- Accept and evaluates applications for accreditation of Research Ethics Committees (RECs), through the Committee on Standards and Accreditation (CSA).
- Endorse the evaluation result of the CSA to PHREB for action.
- Perform other functions or tasks as deemed necessary by PHREB.
