The University of Northern Philippines – Ethics Review Committee (UNP-ERC) was accredited Level 1 by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) through the Regional Ethics Monitoring Board – 1 (REMB-1) with 1 year validity.
The UNP-ERC submitted their application last August 2018 which were evaluated by the REMB-1 Committee on Standards and Accreditation (CSA) who gave their recommendations to improve their operations. It took the applicant months to comply with the recommendations due to conflicting schedules of other accreditation of the university. Nevertheless, they were able to improve their operations and were able to meet the suggestions from the evaluators. On June 3, 2019, the REMB-CSA scheduled the re-evaluation of UNP-ERC together with other 2 new applications (DOH Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Dagupan, Level 2 and Lorma Colleges, Level 1), with the supervision of PHREB officials Dr. Marita Reyes and Ms. Marie Jeanne Berroya. The evaluators
recommended to PHREB who conferred the grant of Level 1 Accreditation to UNP – ERC, and awarded the certificate during the 13th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Conference on August 13-16, 2019 held at Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental.
