REGIONAL ETHICS MONITORING BOARD 1

 

Objective:

To ensure the protection of safety, welfare, and rights of human participants in health-related research in the regions, DOST through Special Order No. 248 Series of 2017 initially established the REMBs in three (3) regions including Region I (Ilocos Region) in line with the Republic Act No. 10532 or the Philippine National Research Health System Law of 2013 and the DOST Special Order 091 s. 2006.

 

Functions:

The REMB I serves as the regional arm of PHREB, with the following functions:

  1. Information dissemination, training and advocacy related to ethics.
  2. Monitor the performance of Research Ethics Committees (RECs).
  3. Assist in the development of quality assurance in review of RECs.
  4. Assist in the implementation of policies and directions for health research ethics set by PHREB.
  5. Accept and evaluates applications for accreditation of Research Ethics Committees (RECs), through the Committee on Standards and Accreditation (CSA).
  6. Endorse the evaluation result of the CSA to PHREB for action.
  7. Perform other functions or tasks as deemed necessary by PHREB.
